Cam’s Life Hacks
If you’re an avid listener you’ll have heard all of these mentioned in the show at some stage.
BACK/NECK PAIN & KNOTS
Can’t get your partner to give you a massage? Or don’t want to pay for a masseuse? Well, I use this almost every day when I either feel something getting tight or if I pull a muscle by doing something that shouldn’t pull a muscle.
FULL BODY PAIN/KNOTS OR STRETCHING
Mostly used as an all body massage before playing football, this is also handy for any muscle pain or knots from injury. I use this a few times a week. This is the same model I have and it seems more powerful than others I’ve used.
Wong To Yick Wood Lock Medicated Oil
SOOTHE MUSCLE PAIN
This stuff will give you a burn and a half and bring the blood to the muscles helping speed up recovery. I use it before and during sports and find that even after 90 minutes of football it’s still burning.
STOP COLDS, SORE THORATS & MOUTH ULCERS
For colds: I put 2 drops in a small glass or water and gargle until gone. Try as swish the water around so it gets the back of your throat. You should feel a burn or sting where the infection is starting. Note, avoid lips and don’t do any more than 3 drops.
For mouth ulcers: Gargle or soak some oil on a cotton wool bud and dab the ulcer. Note, it stings.
Also, don’t get the dropper bottles, get the drip bottles, like the one above.
Swanwick Sleep Glasses
I wear these about 30 minutes before bed and it honestly helps me wind down for the day. Especially good if you’re at the screens later than 10pm. Just chuck them on and you’re multi-tasking, i.e. getting ready for sleep as well as being productive. But lets face it, this is for those wanting to eek the most from the day. If you really want a good nights sleep then you might want to try some of my other hacks.
STRESS RELIEF & INCREASED IMMUNITY
I started these about 3-4 years ago and haven’t looked back. Now I’ll have a short cold shower first thing in the morning (from the start and even in winter), during the day if I need a reset, and after a workout. You’ll feel invigorated whatever you do! This can also be extended to full emersion. Try lakes, rivers and the sea if you’re in colder climes.
COMFORT FEET ON ROCKY BEACHES/RIVERS/LAKES
I discovered these when preparing for a Kayaking trip in Thailand. They were a godsend and still are. If you’re doing the cold therapy mentioned above, you’ll want to get a pair of these for those rocky beaches, river banks and lakes. Where I live my closest beach has rocks mixed with sand, so I always put my water shoes on so I don’t need to watch where my feet go.
